St Vincent’s/Silveira Ranch
This proposed 190 acre compact, transit-oriented development along Highway 101 in San Rafael is organized by a clear town center comprised of a central green and ringed by civic, commercial, and office buildings around a circular road. The town is entered in a grand procession: via a curved eucalyptus- lined boulevard with bicycle and pedestrian paths in the center tree- lined median, and automobile traffic on either side. Radiating from the center are four quartiers. Each of the four neighborhoods has a distinct square or park that functions as a neighborhood focus. An abandoned railroad, opens the possibility for light rail service.
